Something About integrals

I woke up this morning thinking about integrals. Creating endless lines of complex numbers all crunched up into one only equation that will turn out to be the shortest, and simplest of the steps a noble engineer must solve to get to a final solution which might be an even better reason to burst into flames. I kept this thought in my mind for a good part of the day trying to figure out how in the world it is that I will be able to endure through this training by only training. Immediately I snapped and realized how theoretical all my life has been, never really applying anything to a practical scenario in which to see and feel what my math has foreseen. This is fascinating, having a science, a method so effective and accurate that it is able to describe reality and changes in the world over a piece of paper. It is the step I am aching to take, reading about the amazing things one can do being good at math. So, in theory, theory will make you better at reality.

In their simplest defined function, integrals are used to describe the area under a defined curve. Now, when I think of solving an exercise, the moment one must start to solve an integral having a given domain or parameters that we just suppose will bring reasonable solutions, I ask myself, how do we create our exercises?  Most of them are created from examples that have been fronted as problems by engineers trying to do something on earth. I cant think of a problem with the same anxiety and excitement I would one that has been posed to me as part of the problems I encountered making the design for an electricity generator or a battery. I remind myself that building a bridge or blowing up a mountain, it’s all a matter of study and mind crafted planning of every minuscule detail, measured to exactitude through our existence that gives us the power to create use of the universe to our benefit. Our minds have always distanced humans from any other living being we have encountered yet, it has permitted our race to eliminate any kind of scale in which to measure dominance. There is no defying us. Now that we have the planet to ourselves we can point our thought towards commodity and progress at its purest. Great movements and constructions which require moving earths crust around to suit our convenience and erect skyscrapers that will hold thousands of humans at once under a glorious roof cramped around hundreds of other mega-constructions that pack us tightly together in numbers that scale up to seven billion humans, most of them knowing about the world and having knowledge of how things work and why do so never seen before. All product of the mind.

A point to look at, one that will guide your direction when you are trying to find that space in which to help humanity climb up the mountain it is trying to conquer. The direction I find useful has finally presented itself to me and I trust that my eyes don’t fool me in seeing it as an engineering, with all its theory and preplanning.

From then to now.

Ive been thinking;

In my life i have grown from a mear spec of life in my mothers uterus to the man i like to consider myself now. It is not an easy task growing up, nor is maturing as you do, but if you are lucky enough and try to understand the world as it is presented to you, one can reach the unthinkable.

In my life i have studied. Not much more, and as ive studied something once, twice three times and a million, i have seen that although the subject doesnt change, my view of it does, and in a great deal. Someone could have asked me what i wanted to be just two years ago and i would have sighed and given them a gesture of incomprehention and resent; now i would not hesitate in saying "i want to be an angineer". Why? It is simple, for all the time and subjects i have studied throughout my life i have taken one feeling that everyone of them has induced in me, and that is wanting to know how? How is it this works? Why is this so and not another way?

Mathematics has been wierd to me in this way always. Never knowing how its is that a formula might work, i just learned it and thats what i needed to know for now. I wanted to know how i would be able to use all this information that i kept storing in my brain, taking up "the space in there" as if it were a computers memory. I am proud and exited to say that it is now that i see the application, it is now when i see that all the stored and abandoned knowlage in my brain is realy going to set me in this world as someone who might offer a thing or two of his own to it, not just by working as part of another process, or as a mear link in the chain, but as an outgoing, truly capable individual with the potencial of creating. Creating, creating something which might make the world a better place, or a safer place, or even making the world another place to be since we can settle the moon, or mars. Mathematics are numbers, human representations and methods that have been found to work applied to our reality and through which we have accomplished so much. I want to learn math. I want to have a method i understand and therefore can apply to a practical case, not neccesserily in my job, but in my life. An engineer is one in and out of work, or university; an engineer is someone who is able to use all the knowlage in his brain and ingeniusly dedicate it to making a great machine or mechanism, fuel or other invention. I want to be an engineer because i want to know my reality, i will have the answers to the questions i had when i was studying math in school, understanding it, and much more.

Being great is not a matter of speed but a matter of durability, and he who is able to endure the long learning process, gaining speed on the way, will surely discover the world, and those who lie in it.

Sharing is caring.

Welcome,

As a student in his first year of Energy Engineering at the Polythecnic School of the "Universidad Europea de Madrid" during the years 2013-14, i am engaging in this class project which will help me share my knowlage with other students around the world and most importantly, it will serve me as a tool to learne from others.
Technologies advance and we must advance with them, following the speed of progress that keeps an irregular pase as it pases through the world, at one end we solve a problem, at the other we creat one, but it is in our best interest to share both problems and solutions amongst those who care and wish to go foreward.
My main goal for this blog is to change with technology and use it in my favor, working with my carreer mates around the world as a boundle taking advantage of this globally extended need to spread information, and by working together to be up to date.
